Study Lounge

Founded in 1987, SMI’s core mission has been to address the needs of chronically homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS that hinder their ability to live independently and healthfully. With HIV/AIDS coming to the purview of the public on a large scale, local community leaders rallied together to ensure that no individual living with the virus goes without the necessary services to live healthy, happy, lives.

Today, SMI is still extending their mission of meeting the need of supportive housing, the best opportunities to access medical care, treatments and services to this population. Although many people with these diagnoses are living longer than in previous decades, the need for secure, safe, affordable housing is a continuous issue we see here in the Capital Region and all across our countries’ cities and towns.
